Venus Legal signs up to the Greener Litigation Pledge.
The firm has committed to the Greener Litigation Pledge with a view to minimising the environmental impacts of litigation.
The Pledge aims to embed meaningful and permanent change into the rules of litigation practice.
In June 2019, the UK became the first country to commit in law to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The Pledge was launched in June 2021 and is part of the Greener Litigation Project which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of court disputes in line with the objective of restricting global warming as set out in the Paris Agreement.
Lorna McGlone, CEO and Founder of Venus Legal commented:
“The pandemic has forced environmentally friendly, alternative practices, including remote hearings and electronic bundles. The Greener Litigation Pledge aligns with our values and our approach to litigation. We hope that others will join this effort, so that an environmentally friendly approach to litigation remains the norm.”
